A balanced budget is not always a good idea. Deficit spending is the way to cure a recession. However, when business income is booming it would be wise to tax businesses more so as to reduce the national debt.
Republicans are not interested in the national debt except as an excuse to spend less on the non-rich.
Quebec will systematically collect food for the hungry, food that supermarkets were going to throw away, and expects to reuse 8 million kg of food per year this way.
