Prisoners in Australia have been banned from smoking tobacco.

They will be forced to withdraw cold-turkey from a drug that is harder to quit than heroin.

Tobacco is a deadly addiction, and it would be good to offer prisoners help in quitting, but forcing them (or anyone) to quit is cruel. Why not estabish a smoking room for those prisoners who don't want to quit?
