The Democratic Party would be making a big mistake if it focuses on
helping the white workers whose pay has gone down in the past 3
decades.
I agree with the article's conclusion, but we should not suppose that
right-wing democrats abandoned white workers because they were focused
on nondiscrimination. It's more the opposite: after Bill Clinton
sold out to the rich in the 90s, mainstream Democrats would no longer
offer a New Deal, so nondiscrimination was all they had left.
When dooH niboR is making the non-rich poor, if they are not wise
enough to see this, they tend to break up into groups that compete
with each other. Especially if right-wingers encourage this and
nobody discourages it. But if Democrats offer everyone a chance to
have comfortable a life, they can work together for that.
