Hey everybody ! Many of you couldn’t access your favorite onahole blog between Friday 19:15 UTC and Saturday 22:45 UTC (yeah that’s over 24 hours), and you were sad, and people started praying towards Akihabara to get help from the otaku gods during these dark times.

Long story short: hosting was shut down without prior notice due to excessive bandwidth usage. And there’s little doubt about what caused it.

The “without prior notice” part kinda freaked me out a bit. But there’s no child porn here, so why a police raid ? For the time being, I spread my backups on several sources to ensure safety. And I opened a Tumblr, can be useful. But the problem is: the SSL certificate I have is a single-domain control validation certificate (15 € a year), if I needed a wildcard certificate that would be…  10 times more expensive. Had to do a difficult choice: to split contents and share load across subdomains, I can’t use mixed protocols, so I have to disable SSL (HTTPS) on the blog. That’s also why I added a redirect handler:

Meanwhile: the previous hosting will expire soon and is still down ATM, so I switched to another datacenter for a new hosting -located in Luxembourg. I think it should provide faster access, being closer to major global internet nodes (London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt). For now it’s working nicely, time to lean from what happened and ensure more efficient backups :)  All this should make Onahole Review faster, but with a noticeable privacy drawback. But as always, Onahole Review remains without external scripts and share buttons, without ads, without Google Analytics and other tracking beacons.
