On peut être astronaute et nul en géographie apparemment : ma photo de Lyon était en fait… Rome. Oui j’ai mélangé les cartes SD :) Désolé les gones ! C’est l’intention qui compte…

It seems you can be geographically-challenged and still become an astronaut: that picture of Lyon from yesterday… was a picture of Rome. I am acquaintanced with both cities to be honest but I fumbled my SD cards in weightlessness :)

Festival of light in Lyon tonight until Saturday! The photo is not the best, but the city was shining too bright! ;)

Bonne Fête des Lumières, Lyon! La photo est mauvaise, mais la ville brillait trop dans la nuit ! ;)

Tropical storms look spectacular from here. Stay safe, Argentina! We can see larger tropical storms and hurricanes and lightning at night from the International Space Station.

Les tempêtes tropicales vues dans leur totalité offrent un spectacle impressionnant. Accrochez-vous l’Argentine ! On peut également voir les ouragans et les orages la nuit depuis la station spatiale.

The way out: our airlock. We use the back part for stowage now, but that’s where the hatch to space is located. My first and so far only taste of the vacuum of outer space was at NASA's Johnson Space Center when I tested the spacesuit we wear on spacewalks. The Quest airlock is where we store the spacesuits and the module we depressurise before leaving the Station for outside work.

Notre sas de sortie Quest. En ce moment, on s’en sert de cagibi en y stockant notamment nos scaphandres, mais autrement c’est là que se trouve l’écoutille qui donne directement sur l’espace. Concrètement, c’est le module où l’on patiente tout équipés avant nos sorties extravéhiculaires (ou « EVA »). Il est alors dépressurisé avant que l’on puisse ouvrir la porte. J’ai déjà fait une première expérience du vide au Johnson Space Center de la NASA à Houston pendant mon entraînement, quand j’ai testé le scaphandre qu’on utilisera pendant nos EVA.
