Taxing automated factories

jeudi 9 mars 2017 à 01:00

Unlimited automation could split the world into the rich owners of robot factories and the starving "superfluous" ex-workers. It could end up as the Hunger Games or even with extermination of the latter.

To avoid this requires taxing the automated factories, or their products, to support everyone else. The article calls this "taxing robots", but it is not clear what that would mean. It would be meaningful if robots were units of comparable cost and productivity to each other, but they are not.
