"Smart" meters are snooping devices. I've said that for years. Now others are starting to be concerned about the matter.

The article doesn't say what specific issue the court decided, but in general legal "protection of privacy" in the US operates by putting conditions on access to data that has been collected. That's fundamentally inadequate.

Real privacy means stopping your "smart" meter from reporting on you at all.

If something is called "smart", be very suspicious of allowing it into your home.
