Obama hardly tried to curb global heating when he was president, yet now he is publiciy pressing for more climate defense

What should we say about this incongruous situation

If our goal is to encourage climate defense, we should criticize his past failure as president, while endorsing his valid points (those which are valid) of today.

To treat his past failure as more important than the future, as the article does, is not constructive.
