I agree, and I have refused to idolize the US military for as long as this site has operated. That is why, for instance, I don't use the term "gold star families". Captain Khan was an honorable American—he's not the one that hijacked the US military to fight an unjustified personal war. Trump did wrong to insult Khan's parents, but we would make a mistake if we worship them.
