English usage
jeudi 26 janvier 2017 à 01:00English Usage is changing so fast that it has become a pitfall for most people — at least on Twitter.
Since I don't use Twitter or SMS, I have never seen most of the terms discussed in the article. Indeed, I don't even recognize, the words that the article describes as "passé". They had their 15 minutes of usage and I never noticed. I don't think I missed much.
I've always refused to adopt the latest fashionable slang words, just as I've refused to adopt the latest fashionable clothing styles. I didn't adopt them when I was young, and I see no reason to start. Why be dragged around by fads?
I still use the word "staff", because "team" means something different to me. The FSF hires staff, and some of the staff belong to various teams.
